Ummmmm - YES.
THEY MAKE CHEESE!!! BUTTER!!! WHIPPING CREAM!!! Basically, my favourite things in life.
'Presented by Dairy Farmers of Canada, the 2016 Milk Calendar is a time-honoured tradition. Each of the 19 new recipes features the goodness of 100% Canadian milk, by including at least a cup of milk in each recipe, and can be ready in 45 minutes or less.'
I was excited to be assigned the Homestyle Lemon Cauliflower Orecchiette - little ear-shaped pasta, Béchâmel sauce, cauliflower, lemon, capers and cheese - I mean, doesn't that sound good?
And it was.
HONESTLY - it's one of my favourite things I've made in a long time.
There's a teeny tiny hit of heat from the 1/8 tsp of cayenne, tanginess from both lemon zest and lemon juice, salty goodness of capers, luscious creamy sauce, bite-sized chew of orecchiette pasta, a sharp creamy punch from Canadian Parmesan and everything is finished off with the freshness of chopped parsley.
It's seriously friggin' good.
I think you could take it a step further and pour the finished pasta into a casserole dish and bake it with breadcrumbs or crushed potato chips on top for about 20-25 minutes at 350º. This would add a nice crunchy toasty texture to the already wonderful balance of the other ingredients.
