Jalapeño Cheddar Beer Bread

I saw this recipe on Pinterest and for some reason, felt like I just HAD to make it.

After pulling the loaf out of the oven, it LOOKED great.

It tasted...

ok.

I followed the recipe exactly except, instead of buttermilk I used Breton Brewing's Stirling Hefeweizen beer, and, I didn't add any bacon *gasp*.

If I had to do it over I'd probably use buttermilk instead of beer as recommended, add the cooked bacon, add more salt, more jalapeño and more cheese. The texture was great but the flavour was a little lacking.

With a few tweaks, this would be fantastic with homemade baked beans!
