Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet Food Photography

I recently worked on new food photography for Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet's website. After initial conversations and brainstorming, I rough-sketched, then pulled props for each of the three shots Jen Laughlin and Aidan Brunn, the owners of Schoolhouse, wanted. For all three images, Jen and Aidan requested horizontal flatlays with a warm, welcoming feel, that were a mix of rustic and modern.

SHOT #1 (ABOVE) -  GLUTEN-FREE SUPERNOVA MUFFINS

An overhead scene featuring Schoolhouse’s supernova cranberry-blueberry gluten-free muffins along with gluten-free baking and raw ingredients.

SHOT #2 - GLUTEN-FREE BROWNIE BATTER MIXED BY HAND

It was important to both Jen and Aidan that Aidan's hands be shown mixing the batter in order to convey the message that Schoolhouse products are made from scratch in small batches. Aidan's hands are also a direct nod to the reason for Schoolhouse's existence - Aidan's battle with Celiac Disease. You can read about Aidan's journey with Celiac here. The red bowl and red-striped towel are a nod to Schoolhouse's red and yellow logo.

SHOT #3 - WEEKEND BRUNCH

For this shot Jen and Aidan wanted a warm, homey vibe, to welcome people, who are sad or feel excluded about eating gluten-free, back to the table. Featuring Schoolhouse muffins, granola, and breads, I created a scene filled with bright cheerful colours, including yellow flowers to match the red and yellow Schoolhouse logo.
