It’s a cool, sunny morning in Cape Breton and even though I have work to do, it still feels like a mini vacation which, to be honest, I desperately need. . My father-in-law and I always go on a road trip of some sort while we’re here. I’ll visit the beach to pick glass every day, and tomorrow we’ll go to the Mabou Farmers Market. Since I was a kid, baking has been one of the only constants in my life. Whether I’m baking a cake, roasting vegetables, or swearing at pie crusts, baking is something I know I can always count on. It helps me relax when I’m stressed, it calms me down when I’m angry, and it helps me feel happiness when things seem hopeless. Some people meditate, some people drink or do drugs, some people go to counselling. I bake. . SUMMER IS HERE!!! 🍉 Whether a quick slice at breakfast, a snack on the go, packed up in a picnic basket, or on a platter at a BBQ, watermelon is THE quintessential summer staple. 🍉 Convincing Elodie to drink water is a never-ending task, and this summer, spending so much time outside, I know it will be even harder. 🍉 Luckily, she LOVES watermelon and can often be found, running through the grass barefoot, a half-gnawed slice in her hand, pink juice dribbling down her chin. 🍉 It may sound obvious (um, WATER-melon😂), but watermelon is 92% water. 92%!!!
